Welcome

Thanks for visiting my site. I would be honored if you took a few minutes to browse, maybe read a blog post and leave a comment. For much of my adult life, I have written in hopes of making the world a little better, a little kinder, a little more just. In telling others’ stories, writers can shine light on places not well travelled by many of us. We can share our inner turmoil and triumphs; in so doing we can heal ourselves and inspire others. I’ve done my best to gather here blog posts, essays published and unpublished and short stories. I have characterized my blog posts by theme. Writers write for the sheer joy of the act. But we also write to be read. The invitation, dear visitor, is yours for the taking.

ABOUT ME

I am the mother of three young adults who are launched in this world. Mothering has been my greatest joy, even though I once published a piece describing the top ten benefits of empty nesting. In some ways, I’ve lived a writer’s life, worked as a fille au pair in Paris where I studied French, was a community organizer in the hardscrabble mining area of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and sheltered homeless families as a clergy spouse in New Jersey. I’ve written about spirituality, health care, social justice and the environment. I currently earn my bread and butter as a grant director for a major health system in Chicago. I am a novice, but enthusiastic bird watcher, and love to speak French, which was my college major. Like most writers, I believe I have a book or two in me…
